The senior partners of the Firm have represented Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the ICC Court of Arbitration in Paris and various multi national and local corporate groups in arbitration proceedings in Pakistan, Brussels and Singapore. Some examples of areas in which the Firm has conducted arbitration are energy, insurance and telecommunications. The Firm recently represented a consortium of insurance companies led by Adamjee Insurance Company Limited in arbitration proceedings and successfully negotiated a settlement in respect of one of the largest insurance claims relating to crude oil in Pakistan.
The Firm has successfully handled more than twenty arbitration claims and is currently involved in five arbitration matters.
Mr. Yousaf Khosa, who heads the Firm’s construction practise, acted as the principal Pakistan legal counsel for Ghazi-Barotha Contractor, JV in a 500 Million US Dollars ICC arbitration in 2004 and also acted as the lead Pakistan counsel in the ICSID arbitration for the same project initiated by Impregilo SpA against Government of Pakistan for settlement of investment disputes. |
