The Firm is recognized as the leading corporate law firm of Pakistan in the energy sector. The expertise of the Firm in the energy sector commenced with its involvement in the 1200 MW Hub Power Project in 1990. Since then the partners of the Firm have represented sponsors and/or lenders in 20 power projects.
As a consequence of the prominent role played by the Firm in the energy sector, the partners of the Firm have the experience of not only drafting and negotiating implementation agreements, power purchase agreements, fuel supply agreements, engineering procurement and construction contracts, equipment supply contracts, loan documentation, security documentation, and shareholders agreements, but also the ability to strategize in order to create the most fiscally efficient structure for the debt or equity financing of such projects.
The Firm represents the interest of its clients not only at the stage of the negotiations with the Private Power and Infrastructure Board, NTDC and the fuel supplier but also before the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority and all other relevant regulatory authorities pertaining to such projects.
Mr. Hasnain Naqvee, one of the Islamabad based partners of the Firm, is recognized in the energy sector as the person most capable of obtaining the requisite National Electric Power Regulatory Authority approvals and licences in the shortest period of time.

- Representing the lenders of Saif Power Limited with regard to Pak Rupees financing of the equivalent of US $ 150 million in the 225 MW Gas/Diesel based Project at Sahiwal, Punjab.
- Counsel for Intergen (Pvt.) Limited in the 150 MW RFO based Project at Kohat, NWFP where the Firm has dealt with related matters such as NEPRA matters, Tariff Approval and the Grant of Generation Licence.

The coal based PPA and the understanding on the coal procurements would be used as a standard for other coal based projects in Pakistan.
